A Big North East
June 1, 2022
An afternoon trip saw a strong north easterly wind greeting us as we headed on the water. Pierre & Charles were in for a tough bite as the water temps had dropped significantly, causing the fish to be lethargic. I barely found 60 degrees in most areas and had to try slower speeds and various baits to get bit. I did however locate one area that had over 62 degrees and concentrated here for most of our time. There were many fish landed but very few keeper sized walleye. It’s not always a bad thing when the fish are too big, but they were hoping to bring a few home for dinner! By the time we were all done, they had enough for a good meal and many others were released to grow even bigger. Oddly enough the walleye made up for 80% of the catch today. Not many pike for a change and that was perfectly fine by me! A tough but very rewarding day on the water!
