Trailer maintenance had sidelined me this week, but I was finally able to get out on the water today. Christiane hadn’t fished since our trip to Plummers this summer and we were taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather. Winds were practically nonexistent and the temps were perfect for a November day. It had been almost a week since I was out last and I was surprised to find that the water temps had actually risen to over 55 degrees. I just knew we were going to have a great day!

I began fishing for walleye and hit a few areas that were showing signs of life. Unfortunately, we were only able to come up with a couple of fish, with just one being a keeper. The other was an over and released after crushing the bait. The low, clear water wasn’t helping and the lack of current flow wasn’t either. I decided to switch species and changed over to bass instead.

We made a long run to an area that had been good to me the last time out and it didn’t disappoint us again today. Christiane was tight to a bass on the very first cast! This continued for quite a while and we landed plenty more fish in the time we were here. By switching baits when the fish slowed down, we were able to monopolize on the numbers. We managed to catch on 4 different presentations and most of them were large! I tried a few areas close by when things died off completely and we picked at several more, before we were done. Today was an enjoyable one filled with plenty of action, once I got on the fish. Although the walleye bite could have been better, the bass definitely cooperated. It was just nice to be on the water, knowing that the trailer was safe for travel once again. Christiane caught lots of quality smallies and had finally made it out in the boat this season. It was definitely a great day for fishing!!
