Big Deep Bite

Richard was back today with Liam but this time Karen didn’t join them. Instead her husband Dave was along for the ride, so to speak! The three of them had a great time catching smallies, from deep water. We spent the better part of the day dropshotting the depths and plenty of bass were landed. Not all of them were big but there was definitely some quality in the mix. They had multiple doubles and even a triple header that made for a great pic! All in all a pretty great day!

Big Bite Bass

Scott was in town with his daughter and wanted something to do while she visited her friends. Why not head out fishing! We were going to have a great day as the temps had dropped a bit and it wasn’t going to be a scorcher! Bass were on the feed and I hoped to get him into some bigguns!

Although we spent the first couple of hours in search of sturgeon, it didn’t happen. Some nibbles were had but not from the right species, so we called it on the dinosaurs for the day!

I had him trying something he hadn’t done before and he caught on quickly. We were dropshotting deeper water and he managed to boat several good smallies. We covered plenty of water in search of the larger bass and were rewarded several times. Once I felt that the water had been covered effectively, I decided to bring him shallower in hopes of more big smallies.

We fished a couple of different areas with soft plastics and he nailed more big bass. Some of them were sight fished and he really enjoyed that! He was able to convince a few fish into eating boatside by changing the cadence of the bait. This also gave him confidence in using a bait that he had never used before!

Another Full Boat

Robert and his son Micah were with me this afternoon. He also brought his sister and brother in law, all the way from Germany! Conditions weren’t perfect but at least we had a wind for a decent drift. It’s always hard when there are 4 people fishing, so drifting works best!

Plenty of bass & walleye were landed in the 4.5 hours that they were out and several good keepers were taken home, for their dinner tonight. Although it may have been hot and sunny, the breeze made it quite bearable. Another great day for fishing!

Hot & Flat

Len & his son Eli were with me this morning and I was glad it was only a half day. We were not going to see any wind the entire time out and hot was the word for the day! We literally fried in the heat as they fished through extreme conditions. Plenty of chances were had and several fish were landed throughout the morning. Walleye, bass and a nice bonus pike came aboard before we were done. Probably the best part was the run back as we finally had a breeze! I can’t wait to get into the air conditioning!

Bigger is Better

Mark & his son Jason were with me today and hoping to get into some big fish. I wasn’t going to disappoint them! Mark came right out of the gate, landing the biggest smallie of his life! They were both used to catching much smaller fish from their lake up north and this was a real treat. Walleye & bass were taken from our first area before I had to move, due to a lack of wind. The fish were showing but not really taking much anymore and it was time to relocate.

We spent the balance of the day out deep, dropshotting over all kinds of bass. Many quality ones were landed along with a few more eyes before we were done. They cut it a bit short with the heat and no wind and I didn’t complain. I was hot too!

Overall the day was a big success with both of them landing many fish with a couple of new techniques. The best part about today was that they managed to catch fish so much bigger than they usually do up north. I know they’ll be back looking for more!
