What an amazing day the gang had today! John, Jeff, Mason & Jacob were with me on this very hazy day. The forest fires out west had us completely engulphed, looking like we were in the fog. Although the sunrise was a spectacular ball of fire, it soon disappeared and the entire day was overcast. It was almost like fishing just before a storm!

Everyone in the boat today managed to catch a good number of pike, but the walleye seemed to be almost nonexistent. Although we had our chances at a few, it wasn’t on fire. I moved around plenty and covered plenty of water trolling. Unfortunately, pike were the majority of fish caught, until the end. As if it was a Hail Mary, we had one more reel fire, right after we had a triple header. This tine however, Jacob fought a larger toothy critter right into the boat for the last fish of the day. I removed the hooks and she was on her way, no worse for wear! What a way to end the day! This may not have been the greatest day for bites, but it sure left them with some stories to tell. Overall, it was tougher than usual, but it sure had a great finish!

Another day on the water and more pike and walleye action! James was on a road trip vacation and planned today to enjoy sone fishing. We may have had a bit of a grind, but we still managed to get numbers of quality fish. He decided to keep 1 walleye, as he had never eaten them before. I’m sure it won’t be the last time!

We ran aal over the place today and trolled plenty of water in order to get the bites we did. With water temps still low, I kept searching for the warmest areas. I can’t wait for temps to increase and these fish to become more active. I know I am driving over lots of fish that don’t even want to move!

We finished off the day a bit shallower and managed several more walleye. Too bad they were all slightly under in size! There were even a couple of bass that ate the baits, showing me that the better walleye moved out of these areas. If mother nature can get her act in gear, maybe the water temps will finally rise enough to activate them into chasing again. Overall, a tough but great day of fishing!!

Sandra and Alvin experienced another great day of fishing on this beautiful, sunny day! We covered plenty of water to get the bites we did, but there were good numbers of fish landed. Both pike & walleye were captured by trolling and they even managed to bring a few fish home with them in the end.

Another successful fishing trip for a husband & wife couple. I think they’ll remember this one for quite a while. Great day to be on the water!

Darren was back today for another annual family outing. This time however, it was just the three of them. His wife Grace and their daughter Lilly Belle managed to catch plenty of fish throughout the day. Both pike and walleye were landed before dropping off the two girls at the dock mid-day.

Darren remained for the afternoon and we tried a different area with similar results. Once again pike and walleye were boated and a couple of the keepers were harvested for Grace. Everything else was returned to fight another day!

With air temps increasing in the coming days, the fish should start to become more aggressive. Lately it’s been a better afternoon bite that a morning one! Hopefully all this will change soon! Great day nevertheless!

Orion was finishing off his week of business and would be flying back to Atlanta after we were done. Little did he know that it would probably be one, if not the best day of fishing he had ever experienced!

With water temps barely above 50 degrees, I decided to begin a little deeper and almost instantly we were into fish. Pike after pike came aboard but the walleye didn’t seem to want to bite. After boating close to a dozen, I decided to venture shallower to see if they were there. Unfortunately, the pike were shallow as well and we continued to rack up the numbers.

Our morning had only seen northerns with zero signs of the walleye. This all changed however and good numbers of them soon came aboard. A mix of high-end keepers and big overs were landed by Orion and he was having a blast. We trolled the entire day and had action for the most part. The weather even cooperated better than I expected and little to no rain fell upon us. I did however raise the roof earlier in the day when the first shower arrived and left it up all day.

Today was a great, post spawn bite day and plenty of fish were landed. Orion left with a sense of satisfaction and sore arms from all the fish he had caught. Hopefully the next time he has to come here for a business trip, he’ll join me again for another banner day of fishing. Looking forward to our next adventure!!
