    Another Average Day

Once again, Christiane & I fished Memphremagog for smallmouth bass. We had identical conditions as yesterday & the air felt more like July rather than June. It was a scorcher! Over 100 bass were caught on a variety of lures. The top water bite was excellent in most places as we caught smaller males all over the lake. Some spawned out females were also taken in the 5 to 10 foot areas adjacent to the spawning flats on tiny perch grubs & 1/8 oz. Jigs. In some areas of the lake, the bass have already spawned while other areas haven’t even begun. If the weather holds out, there will be action until the end of the month!

    Top Water Fiesta

I fished with my wife, Christiane today due to the day off. We had a blast on Memphremagog with plenty of smallmouth bass & perch. The top water bite was great once more & the perch bit well on tiny grubs. The weather was a beautiful sunny day with no wind. Air temps reached into the 80’s and the water went into the low 70’ in some places. Plenty of boats out now that the weather is getting nice! Probably close to 100 fish were caught today. A great day by anyone’s standards!

    A More Productive Day

I fished with only Joe today as Brian took a little too much sun yesterday. We decided to head to the trophy lake again this morning for a few hours and try our luck once more. Well, we shouldn’t have! I personally missed at least 6 lake trout and Joe missed some as well. Several large smallies were seen once more as we covered plenty of water looking for some takers. By 11:00 we called it quits on this lake and headed for Memphremagog. The weather was a beautiful sunny day with the temps reaching into the 80’s by the afternoon. No wind and surface temps as much as 73 degrees in some places made for aggressive fish. Over 100 smallies and close to 75 perch were caught in a five-hour period. Quite a change from yesterday!

    Sight Seeing Again

I fished with Brian & Joe today on a trophy lake and saw over 100 huge smallies just swimming around throughout the day. The weather was spectacular with the high reaching into the lower 80’s. Winds were non-existent and the water temps were up to 65 in some areas. The fishing was rather slow & we only caught about a dozen or so bass and lost a few lakers. The pre spawn fish are really traveling around and not really feeding at the moment. Hopefully in the next few days they will pair up and start to become aggressive. I think I’ll try another lake tomorrow.

    A Tough Viewing

I fished with Bobby & Francois today on a local lake nearby. The weather was a mix of sun & clouds and the temperatures went up into the mid 70’s by the end of the day. Winds were from the S/SW at about 5 MPH and the water temps went to 60 degrees in some areas of the lake. We missed several lake trout and managed to land about a dozen smallmouth ranging from 3.5 to over 5 pounds. The largest went five & a half even! Most of the fish are so near the spawn that they refused to take most offerings. Overall, we must have seen more than a hundred bass just cruising the drop offs. All things considered, a great day for viewing, but a little slow on catching!
