Crankin’ FoolsJune 8, 2004
I fished with Nathan & Warren today and had a great half day. We caught over 25 bass up to 4 pounds under very windy conditions. The air temps were in the low 70s and the water temps were 67 degrees. Winds from the N/NW at about 25 knots with gusts up to 35 knots. Most of the fish were once again caught on Crankbaits & Jigs with grubs. An excellent day for a half day!!!

Mother NatureJune 3, 2004
I fished with Andre & his dad today on Lake Memphremagog & had to work for the fish we caught. The topwater bite has finally started! The morning air was close to 70 degrees and the water was in the upper 60s. 1st cast with a top-water bait, Andre had a largemouth of about 2.5 lbs. Many more smallmouth were caught and lost after on the same presentations. Everywhere we went, we seemed to catch some fish. Lots of smaller fish, but no big ones today. Fished deep and caught small ones! Fished shallow and did the same. By 3:00 PM we had to make a run for the boat ramp due to the storm coming in from the north. I saw lightning and called it quits. Safety first, there’s always tomorrow! We barely got to the shore before the skies let lose and poured on us. Overall a good day with about 30 to 50 smaller bass caught up to 3 pounds.
Elevator WeatherJune 1, 2004
I fished with Bobby & Francois today on a nearby lake and thought it was going to be an unbelievable day when we hooked into a Lake Trout in the 1st 10 minutes. The rest of the day wasn’t as good! The water temps were 57 degrees and the air temps were upper 40s. These north winds and cold nights are killing me! The winds were blowing in at 10 to 20 once again, but directly from the north this time. With the heavy drizzle all day long, we got about a 10 minute break from this crap. Trolling fly rods we missed two trout or salmon. Casting with spinning tackle, we caught a few bass, but missed more than we caught. The weather has been like an elevator lately. I wish it would become stable. Tough day, thank god for the 6 pound laker. Here’s a shot from the trip Bobby had with me two weeks earlier. Too bad it couldn’t have been that great again!!
« Downsizing Rocks »May 29, 2004
I fished with Denis, Max & Julie all day today and we caught about 100 or more bass up to 4.5 pounds. Air temps in the upper 60s and water temps in the lower 60s once again. The winds were still from the N/NW at about 10 to 20 knots as well. Most of the fish came on 1/8oz. jigs with 3 inch grubs. Downsizing accounted for the excellent success rate as we fished behind others that were not as fortunate. Sometimes you just have to adjust your presentations for the conditions you are faced with to make a good day a great one. This was a great one!!!
