Another double trip day saw Sam and his wife in the morning and Mark and his son in the afternoon. The morning started a bit slow but soon picked up when I went deep. Plenty of bass were caught for the balance of their morning and some really good ones too. Dropshotting was the technique and they caught on quickly. Although they missed fish, they also caught many.

Mark and his son joined me for the second trip, but conditions were much tougher. This morning, we had a light wind from the NE, building towards the end. Once I transferred guests, it started to blow and kept increasing. By the time we began fishing, we were in 3 footers, against the current flow. Not easy when you’re trying to drift while dropshotting! I was forced to pull the boat down current with the electric motor, just to present the baits correctly. Once I got everything in order, they began catching fish. We made multiple long drift passes and had fish, on each one. We endured the waves for hours and they each battled many big fish before we were done. Despite the difficult conditions this afternoon, both trips did equally well with a technique they had never done before. The run back was probably the toughest part of today, with big rollers all the way. I also had an obstacle course of sailboats to contend with, as I think there was a race going on. It seemed like they were using half the lake as their course! All in all, the day worked out quite well. Everyone caught plenty of fish and had a great time fishing today!!

Another excellent day of bass fishing with Denny, Jordan and his sons, River & Bodhi. They dropshotted the entire day and pounded the smallies for most of it. We were blessed with calm waters almost the entire time making boat control definitely easier than previous outings! Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing day with two young kids in the boat. At one point, River was hooking up every time he dropped down. Too bad they didn’t all stay pinned! I believe in the end it was his grandfather Denny, that managed to boat the most fish for the day. Everyone had their fair share of fish landed though, with many other hits or losses as well. I just hope that this fishing continues right into the fall period as I will be targeting them almost every day. More, great fishing ahead!!

Preston and his two sons, Draeden and Cole fished with me today on another windy day. It began with residual NE winds in the morning but went SE in the afternoon. Although a little slow at the start, it eventually picked up when we went deep. They learnt a new technique today that will likely be applied to some of their waters out west. All three of them just hammered quality smallies by dropshotting the depths of a rocky flat. Numerous doubles and even a few triples were seen while using this method. Boat control was the toughest, with a big cross wind from the SE making it almost impossible to drift. I really had to work at keeping their lines properly positioned in order to get bit, but I made it work! We spent the bulk of the day scouring the depths and were rewarded with quality bass for our efforts.

Although we fished many places today with some success, it was definitely the deeper water areas that produced the best. Preston and his sons experienced spectacular fishing, using a new technique. I’m sure this method will be added to their lakes back home and hope they have similar success. Today was just the start of more great days of fishing!!

Yvan hit the water with me this morning and was flying solo. We were going to be fishing in a big NE wind later, making certain areas non fishable. I decided to hit them first before the winds got too big and managed to get into several good bass and walleye. Along with these, there were also a bunch of perch before the waves got too big to fish. Next, we made a long run to a slightly protected area and struggled to get the bass that we could see on the Livescope. They just didn’t want to bite and we were off again to another distant spot.

I decided to try a little different approach and fished a deep drop in hopes of getting into a few more fish. AS luck would have it, there were a good number of bass here and we picked at them for a while. There were also a few walleye in the area and this added to the number of fish caught.

After hitting another edge nearby without any success, I decided to make a long run in hopes of finding fishable waters. This time I decided to try deeper and despite the big rollers against the current, we managed to land several more smallies here too.

With tough conditions everywhere due to the NE winds, I thought I’d try something different and Yvan landed several more smallies before switching to sturgeon. To my surprise he was able to land a couple of these before we were done!

Today wasn’t the easiest fishing but by changing areas often, we were able to salvage the day. Plenty of fish were landed, even in these difficult fishing conditions. Yvan left fully satisfied with how the day turned out and is looking forward to his next adventure this month. I will likely see him a couple more times before the open water season is dome. Hopefully the conditions will be a little better next time out!!

Cory was back for his annual father daughter day and Haley was his morning partner. We had a beautiful start to the day with almost zero wind and cool air temps. The fishing wasn’t great when we began and we had to move to several different spots in order to get the bites. In the end, we managed to find one area that held plenty of bass and had to almost dead stick the baits, to get the fish to bite. A few decent ones were lost and some good ones were landed before we had to head back for the change. Skylar was coming for the second half of the day and Haley was heading home with her mom.

Flat calm conditions and warm temps were what we would have for the remainder of the day and I headed back to an open water area to see if we could get bit. As with the morning, the fish were still there but just didn’t want to eat! Somehow, we managed to get bit by a lone walleye before we made a long run to a few other areas to try. Several bass were caught and I even switched it up for a while and tried fishing for sturgeon. Both Skyler and Cory boated a few before changing up to bass once again. Skyler managed to catch a couple more smallies after learning how to properly cast and before we knew it, the day was done.

Both girls had a great time with their dad today and got to fight several fish in the process. It was nice to see them again and how they changed since the last time they were with me. They are really growing up fast! Overall, a nice relaxing day was had by everyone today!!
