    The Carolina Crew

An old client of mine had contacted me months ago to organize a day out with three of his friends. Today they arrived to see Montreal at its finest! Although the troll for the elusive musky proved useless, we turned everything around after. The remainder of the day was well spent drop shotting open water for a mix of bass, walleye and a few decent northern pike. This was one of the hottest days in a while, but all four of them didn’t think so. Seeing as how they were from North Carolina, this wasn’t even what they would call hot. They didn’t even break a sweat while I broiled in the sun! Thankfully the fishing was just as hot and plenty of action was had after the morning troll ended. Evans called it somewhere around 3:00 as they had a long drive back to Ottawa where they were staying. Although we had kept a few walleye for them to enjoy tonight, they opted to pass and go out to a restaurant where they would eat instead. I freed all the fish to be caught another day. Luck fish today!

    Family Day

Peter and his family fished with me today for pretty much everything that swims. They really loved the bass & sturgeon fishing and managed to get some pretty nice ones. The heat was unbearable at times, so  I took them to a mid lake sandbar in the afternoon, for a cooling dip in the lake. As refreshing as it was they were glad to get back to catching more fish before calling it a day. The late afternoon rally saw Sheri catching two of the biggest walleye that had to be released. It didn’t matter though as they had enough for the dinner I had organized for them at a local restaurant. We hooked back up again by 7:00 and they enjoyed their fresh fish of the day! What a perfect way to end an incredible day of fishing by enjoying some of the fish you caught! I hope the rest of their vacation is as enjoyable as what they experienced today and wish them well for the remainder of their stay here in Montreal!

    A Bit of Everything

Took Christiane out for a little multi species fishing today. We managed to get into a bunch of good smallies as well as a couple of sturgeon. We even caught a few walleye for dinner. Got off the water early afternoon when the heat became unbearable as well as the boat traffic. Still a great day for only a few hours of fishing!

    Unlucky With Weather

Hugues was back today with his son Olivier and his nephew from out of town. I knew that we were in for some weather because his track record was unbelievable for electrical storms. It wasn’t if, but when they would arrive! The morning saw a mix of weather and some decent smallmouth but it wasn’t until afternoon when things turned around. Of course it was due to what was coming. The fish turned on just prior to the system arriving and Hugues began beating on the smallies. A little while later we were running for the ramp but not before a flurry of fish were landed. The storm was just behind us as we reached the takeout point and the skies opened up as I was packing up to head home. I’m not a betting man but I’d bet the next time he books in advance we will likely have the same conditions. These things just seem to follow him everywhere!

    Another Great Finish

Hassan & David joined me today for another successful trip. They hit a bunch of smallies and landed about half of them in the morning on a variety of baits. Winds were up pretty good making light hits difficult to detect. Although there were fish in the shallower water, I opted for slightly deeper areas in the afternoon and got into some walleye. They were only supposed to fish until 1:00 but once again the last 90 minutes saw major activity and they held out until 2:00 instead. Another day ending with a great rally!
