    Cold Front Conditions

We fished this morning up till about noon! The conditions had changed drasticly, with a strong North wind gusting to about 20 mph and decent sized waves. Alain, Michel & I braved the weather & headed onto the lake with great expectations only to be humbled. Less than 10 fish were caught and a few others got off before we had a chance to boat them. I dropped a largemouth around five pounds when I thought it was a Northern & did not concentrate on landing it until it jumped and showed her face. The deep water bite was also a pattern that we tried on this, another lake! It works here too!!

    More Deep Water Bass

Another incredible day for huge, deep water largemouth bass today with Alain & Michel. The conditions were about the same, with cooler morning air temps of about 60 degrees. We had pretty much the same type of fishing, but a little bit less action today as we only landed about 50 bass. They were still all quality fish up to & possibly over 5 pounds with the average being over 3 pounds once again. All in all, another great day!!!

    Deep Bucketheads

Once again the three of us fished another mystery lake today & all I can say is Big Fish! Deep Water Largemouth are amazing when approached in this fashion! With crystal clear water and 30 or more feet in depth, we keyed in on an incredible way of fishing and the most unbelievable largemouth fishing I’ve ever seen. I never thought that a largemouth could fight like a smallmouth bass until today. About 70 bass up to & over 5 pounds with the average being about 3 pounds or more fell victim to our jigs. Water temps were mid 70s and the air temps went into the 80s by mid afternoon. What an excellent day!!!

    Northern Quebec Largemouth

I headed on a road trip into Northern Quebec today with Alain & Michel for four days. We fished this afternoon on a lake that will remain nameless, for smallmouth & largemouth bass. The water temps were 78 in the shallows & the air temps were in the 80s. We caught some largemouth bass in heavy cover and missed several others also. About 10 to 12 bass were caught up to 3 or so pounds in various areas as we got a feel for the lake. Tomorrow will be better, I’m sure!

    Drop Shottin’

I fished with Jason & his dad John, again today on Lake Champlain. The water temp was 74 & the air was into the 80s by afternoon. Most of the day, the lake was flat calm! The best fishing once again was in deep water. Drop shotting in up to 38 feet of water produced the bigger fish today. About 20 or more quality smallmouth bass up to 3.5 pounds were caught. A tough day, but overall a good one!!
