    Mean Mother Nature

I fished with Jason & John again today, but on Lake St-Francis due to the heavy winds forcasted for Lake Champlain. A shallower bite in order today as it took about two casts to get into the first fish. A 3.5 pound smallie fell victim to our offering! There was a dark sky overhead & terribly humid temperatures as the storms around us showed their fury. Heavy rains poured on us three times during the day making visibility extremely difficult. Fortunately, the fish didn’t seem to care! About 20 to 25 bass were caught today up 3.5 pounds. No real big ones, but steady action none the less. Overall, a pretty good day as we finally got off the water about 3:30 PM. Mother Nature can be so cruel!!

    Deeper Smallies

I fished with Jason & John from Oklahoma today on Lake Champlain. The air temps were in the 80s & the water temps were mid to upper 70s with heavy algae. Deep water was definately the way to go as we tried different depths with only good success in the 25 to 35 foot ranges. A slow approach was needed to entice these negative smallmouth bass into eating our offerings. Lots of smaller bass fell victim today, with the largest going about 4 pounds or so. We had all kinds of windy conditions today with some calm water as well. Two to 3 foot waves from the SSW were the norm, but mirror calm gave way to a rotating wind from the NNW by afternoon. About 25 bass were caught today, but mostly in the smaller size.

    Southern Size Smallmouth

I fished with Andre & his guest from Tennessee today on Lake St-Francis. The conditions were just perfect for a big fish bite! The air temps started in the low to mid 70s but soon went into the 80s by mid day. Water temps went from the low 70s into the upper 70s by days end. We fished slow all day & were rewarded with many big smallmouth bass by doing so. Unfortunately, about half the fish were lost before they were landed. All in all, about 15 or so fish came aboard today up to 5 pounds. Not a bad day at all!!

    Wet Ones

I fished with Warren & his two children, Jonathan & Annie this afternoon for a few hours on Lake of Two Mountains. Mother Nature wasnt on our side today as she rained upon us almost the entire time we were on the water. The water temp was in the low 70s & the air temps were mid to upper 70s with high humidity. The fishing was very tough due to the stormy conditions and very few fish were actually landed. Top water & sub surface was the most productive today! Tough Bite!!

    Fair Weather Fishing

I fished with Terry & Coeta again today on lake Champlain. The weather was quite a bit different than last Friday when we had winds from all directions and heavy rains at times. Today it was flat calm & the air temps got into the 80s by afternoon. Because of the lack of wind, there was an intense algae bloom on the lake that turned the water pea green. It even increased the surface temperature close to 80 degrees by the afternoon as well. This made for tough fishing as most of the bass were caught in very deep water. They caught about 20 or more bass up to 3.5 pounds and even a decent largemuth on a crankbait. Lots of boats on the lake today! I guess the fishermen prefer the nice weather. Give me the wind anytime!!!
